If someone or something upsets you today just tap around the acupressure points 2 or 3 times, and very quickly, it will help you to regulate your emotional response.
Ever heard of Fight, Flight, Freeze or Fawn? These are all emotional responses that trigger our emotions and leave us feeling like we’re not safe in that moment.
EFT/Tapping is a powerful selfcare tool that will take you out of your anxious, fearful mind, and bring you back into the “now”! It helps you to self regulate which allows in problem solving to your mind and assures your body you are not in a life threatening situation.
An example of this is if you have a fear of something ie dogs, spiders, heights etc., your fear completely takes you over. In that moment you can’t tell the difference between dangerous and not dangerous. Like me with dogs. I could never tell the difference between and angry dog and a happy dog and would literally be paralyzed in fear when I’d see a dog coming.
But through EFT I have worked extremely hard to reprogram that pattern and now when I see a dog I don’t flip to that stress response, instead I look for signs that I’m safe. I have managed to reprogram my response.
This fear used to prevent me from going for walks in case I’d meet a dog. Now when I go for a walk it doesn’t cross my mind. Hence it’s name “Emotional Freedom Technique”. – Freedom! If I bump into someone with a dog now unexpectedly I don’t have the same “punch in the stomach” response. I’m actually quite calm.
Will I purposely put myself in a situation where my fear is tested??? Eh…Absolutely not!! I’m not stupid!!! 🤪 But I don’t obsess or worry if there is going to be dogs there anymore, I just go and if they’re there they’re there. It’s actually incredible 🧘♀️
